If you don’t know within the first five or ten minutes of meeting Brian Jensen (from the Principle Real Estae Group) that he’s someone you can put your faith into, then you’re just not good at judging character, and it’s a good thing I’m here to point you in the right direction. We just closed escrow on our new home last Friday. From beginning to end my wife and I were both amazed at what a fine job Brian was doing. Early on in our house hunt, we dragged Brian to various houses we’d seen for sale online. We were all set to make an offer on one of them, but rather than taking advantage of the situation and grabbing his commission, he actually talked us out of it! He pointed out things we’d completely overlooked. The floors weren’t level and the space for the refrigerator was oddly small. The dining area wouldn’t accomodate our seating, much less the china cabinet. Not to mention there had been some young people ‘doing business’ outside next to the front door! The area was less than desirable and it was simply not a good investment.
He showed us several less expensive homes and we settled on one that had not been upgraded so much, but was larger and in a nicer area. The money we saved will pay for our remodeling, and we can do it to our own taste. Brian set us up with a home inspector who did a remarkable job of finding issues and making sure we understood the issues, and what could be done about them. Brian helped us figure out what was a good deal and what wasn’t, and showed us comparables and estimates of what the market could be like in the near future. He walked us through the entire escrow process, and even showed up when we signed loan docs just to be sure we felt comfortable with every form. When the final walkthrough showed many issues with items the seller agreed to fix, Brian took care of the issues for us, making sure we closed on time. We didn’t even bother going to a second walk through because we so completely trusted Brian to make sure it would meet our expectations. He arranged for the gas and lights to already be on for us. He stayed alone in our new place until after 9pm to make sure the gas man showed up and every line had been inspected and tested. Oh yes..every single appointment we made with Brian he was there before us, waiting with a smile.
By the way, this wasn’t our first time to the rodeo. This is our 6th time buying a home. Also, my mom was the first woman president of the San Diego Real Estate Board, and my wife’s mother was a broker in Pt. Loma for many years. My wife and daughter combined have impressive work experience in real estate financing, both residential and commercial, and we’re here to tell you that if you want the best experience you can have buying a house, then call Brian Jensen and have confidence you’ve found someone who is honest and patient and truly cares that he helps you find the home that best fits you and your desires and needs. He made sure we never felt a moment’s stress through the entire process. We would put hundreds of stars on his review if we could.
Lastly, I want to add that Brian didn’t ask us to write any of this. The only disappointment in our experience is now that it’s done, we no longer have Brian taking care of things for us. What a great guy, a great professional, and a great experience for us! I sure wish I could say THAT more often! (less)
